Build Journal

Two of my biggest hobbies finally intersected with my plan to build my first guitar from scratch. This project kicked off with a lumber purchase in August of 2022, consisting of Northern Ash, and hard maple for both the semi-hollow cap and neck.

Of Course the pickups and Bigsby were purchased early on to keep me honest in seeing this project through.

I decided to go with a Richlite fingerboard (A manmade composite material which mimics the look and feel of jet-black ebony) out of a desire not to feed into the dwindling ebony species issue.

I began the build by creating my own router templates out of some 1/2″ MDF. The designs for the templates came from some online telecaster diagrams I found online, which I modified to meet my own desires.
